So before you swear yourself off from carbs all together, read on to see about the different types of carbs and how they affect you.
Good carbs
Yes, believe it or not there is such a thing as good carbs. The human body uses carbohydrates more efficiently when it comes to energy production than even fats and proteins. That is why it is so important that you don’t cut carbs entirely from your diet. So what are these good carbs that you need to be eating?
The natural ones. Unprocessed carbohydrates are great for your health and wellness. Vegetables that haven’t been altered at all are the best choice when it comes to good carbs. Dark, leafy greens are some of the best carbs to take in, and they add very little to your daily caloric intake. Beans, legumes and whole grains are other good carbs.
Bad carbs and empty ones
These are the carbs you want to avoid. Heavily processed foods like white breads and baked goods are bad carbs. They load your body down without adding anything worthwhile. The same can be said for most mass produced candies and soft drinks.
Empty carbs are the type that come from foods that have no nutritional value. While white bread is loaded with bad carbs, it still has some nutritional value. Empty carbs like candies and snack cakes offer no nutritional value to the body, just calories and carbs that you don’t need. By cutting out these items, you can make your weight loss efforts all the more successful.
